An Interview with Sophia James

Sophia James is a force to be reckoned with. From a young age, music was the focal point of her life. Her late mother Naomi Star was a professional singer, while her father, Chad Wackerman, is a drummer who continues to tour with major artists such as Frank Zappa and James Taylor today.

Last year, Sophia made it to the elite top 10 on Season 18 of American Idol. I had such a blast chatting with Sophia last week – from her experiences working with Katy Perry, dealing with anxiety during the filming process, to finding the perfect stage name, this rising star has been on a wild ride for the last year and a half.

And she’s only just getting started.
